Industrial Corrugated, 7/8-Inch Deep

AMP 2.67 x .875 Corrugated Metal Panel: Industrial-Grade Metal Wall Panel for Dallas-Fort Worth

The AMP 2.67 x .875 corrugated metal panel is the deep version of the classic corrugation: the same 2.67-inch pitch, but 7/8 inch deep, which gives it more strength between supports and heavier shadow lines. Architectural Metal Panels forms it from 44-inch coil in Forney and installs it on industrial, agricultural and commercial walls across Dallas-Fort Worth. It also matches existing 2.67 x .875 panel on older buildings.

Why Does a Deeper Corrugation Carry More Load?

Because stiffness in a sheet comes from depth, not thickness alone. Pressing the same steel into a 7/8-inch wave instead of a 1/2-inch wave nearly doubles the distance between the top and bottom of the profile, and the sheet resists bending far better as a result. In practice that means the 2.67 x .875 can span wider girt spacing, shrug off wind pressure on tall walls and take a knock from a forklift without creasing.

The deeper profile also throws a stronger shadow, which is why architects borrow this industrial panel for feature walls on offices, breweries and modern homes.

Industrial and Agricultural Uses Around North Texas

Anywhere strength matters more than a hidden screw. Distribution and manufacturing buildings in Forney, Terrell and Mesquite; hay and equipment barns across Kaufman and Hunt counties; and the wide, tall walls that catch the most wind.

  • Warehouses and manufacturing: tall walls with wide girt spacing, where the deep profile reduces the framing needed.
  • Agricultural buildings: hay storage, equipment sheds and covered working areas that take daily contact with machinery and livestock.
  • Screen walls and enclosures: mechanical screens and dumpster enclosures that have no backing between posts.
  • Repairs and additions: matching panel on an older building originally clad in 2.67 x .875, so an addition does not look bolted on.
  • Architectural accents: office fronts, restaurants and modern homes that want an honest industrial texture with deep shadow lines.

How We Install It on Girts, Furring or Sheathing

Fastened through the panel into its support at the spacing the engineering specifies, with laps sealed where weather hits them and closures and trims at every edge.

Open framing

On a metal building, the panels fasten directly to the girts. The deeper profile tolerates wider girt spacing than a half-inch corrugation, which is often the reason it was chosen.

Framed and masonry walls

Over sheathing we add a weather-resistive barrier and, where the panels run horizontally or the design wants a rainscreen gap, hat-channel furring. Over block or concrete we anchor furring first.

Trims, closures and flashings

Base trim, corners, jamb and head trims, and transitions are formed in our custom sheet metal shop. Profiled foam closures fill the corrugations at the top and bottom to keep wind-driven rain and pests out. Where a wall meets a roof, see our metal flashing page.

Hail, Heat and Thermal Movement in Texas

NICB data puts Texas at the top of the national list for major hail events eleven years in a row, but walls take hail at a glancing angle and a 7/8-inch corrugation is stiff. Dents on a 24-gauge or 22-gauge wall are uncommon and cosmetic.

The finish takes more punishment than the steel. With roughly 20 days a year at or above 100 F and a summer UV index near 10, SMP paint can chalk on a sun-facing wall within a decade, while Kynar 500 PVDF holds color much longer. Bare Galvalume is a legitimate industrial choice; its AZ55 coating typically carries a substrate warranty measured in decades in an inland climate like DFW.

Long vertical panels expand in summer and contract in a freeze. Every exposed screw pins the sheet, so on walls over about 30 feet we break the run with a trim rather than stretching one panel the full height. Washers under the screws are the usual maintenance item; plan a check every few years.

2.67 x .875 vs 2.67 x 5 vs 7.2 Rib

The 2.67 x 5 is the lighter, cheaper version of the same wave for standard walls. The 7.2 Rib is a trapezoidal panel 1.5 inches deep that spans further still and can also roof the building. The 2.67 x .875 is the middle step: more strength than a standard corrugation, with the rounded wave look that a trapezoid cannot give.

What Dallas-Fort Worth Homeowners Say About Architectural Metal Panels

2.67 x .875 Panel Questions

What is the coverage of the AMP 2.67 x .875 panel?

34.67 inches of net wall coverage per panel. The panel is 36 inches wide, formed from 44-inch coil, and the side lap takes up the difference.

Can you match the 2.67 x .875 corrugated panel on my existing building?

Usually yes. The profile is a long-standing industrial standard. Send a photo and a measurement across several corrugations and we confirm the match before quoting the addition or repair.

Why would I choose the deeper corrugation over the standard 2.67 x 5?

For strength: wider girt spacing, tall walls, wind exposure and areas where equipment can bump the wall. It also gives deeper shadow lines when the look matters.

Is the 2.67 x .875 used on roofs?

It is a wall panel. For roofs we recommend the 7.2 Rib, PBR or standing seam, which are designed for water shedding and roof spans.

What gauge do you recommend for an industrial wall in DFW?

Typically 24 gauge, with 22 gauge where the wall takes regular contact. 26 gauge can work on protected walls with lighter loads; the engineering data for your girt spacing settles it.
