Which Metal Wall Panels Do We Fabricate and Install?
Three families. Aluminum composite panels for flat, modern facades; corrugated panels for economical texture; and the AMP profile line, seven concealed- and exposed-fastener steel profiles we roll for walls. Every panel is cut to length for your elevations, so nobody is trimming a stock sheet on a ladder.
Aluminum Composite Panels (ACM)
Two aluminum skins on a 4 mm core, routed and folded in our shop for storefront fascias, canopies, column covers and entries. Fire-rated cores available.
Corrugated Metal Wall Panels
Classic 7/8-inch corrugated and multi-purpose 12- and 16-inch panels. The economical choice for barndominiums, modern farmhouses and commercial accent walls.
AMP Wave 16-4
Concealed-fastener panel with four waves across 16 inches of coverage. Runs horizontal or vertical with no visible screws.
AMP Wave 12-3
The narrower sibling: three waves across 12 inches, concealed fasteners, tighter shadow lines for smaller elevations and residential walls.
AMP 7.2 Rib
Symmetrical 1.5-inch ribs at 7.2 inches on center. Strong spans make it a wall and roof panel for warehouses and shops.
AMP PBR Wall Panel
Semi-concealed fastener version of the metal-building classic with a smooth, flat face. A favorite for wainscot bands.
AMP PBR Corrugated Panels
The deep, wide exposed-fastener profile with a purlin-bearing leg. The staple skin of pre-engineered metal buildings.
AMP 2.67 x 5 Exposed Fastener
Corrugated wall panel in 22 and 24 gauge for standard applications that need durability at a low cost.
AMP 2.67 x .875 Corrugated
Industrial 7/8-inch-deep corrugated with higher load capacity for wider girt spacing and harder duty.
Concealed or Exposed Fasteners: Which Should You Specify?
Concealed-fastener panels hide every screw behind a lock or clip, so the wall reads as clean lines and nothing penetrates the face. Exposed-fastener panels screw through the face with washer-head fasteners and cost less. The right answer depends on the elevation, the budget and who will be looking at it.
Our Wave 16-4 and Wave 12-3 panels and every ACM system are fully concealed. The PBR wall panel is semi-concealed, with fasteners tucked in the lap. The 7.2 Rib, PBR corrugated and both 2.67 profiles are exposed-fastener panels. On a street-facing storefront or a modern home we usually recommend concealed; on a warehouse, a shop or the back of a building, exposed-fastener panels put the money where it is seen.
- Concealed: no face penetrations, no washers to age in the sun, the cleanest look, higher material and labor cost.
- Exposed: faster to install, lower cost, simple to swap a damaged panel, but washers typically need a check within 10 to 15 years in Texas UV.
- Mixed: many DFW projects pair concealed panels on the front elevation with exposed-fastener panels on the sides and rear.
What Goes Behind a Metal Wall Panel?
A wall panel is only as good as the furring, weather barrier and flashings behind it. We detail all three on the shop drawings before the first panel is fabricated.
Substrates and Furring
Panels attach to steel girts, hat-channel or Z-furring over sheathing, CMU, tilt-wall or wood framing. Furring sets the panel plane, creates a drainage cavity and gives the fasteners something solid to bite. On an uneven existing wall we shim the furring so the finished face is flat, which is the step that keeps oil canning out of the final look.
Weather Barrier and Drainage
Behind the furring goes a self-adhered or fluid-applied weather-resistive barrier, lapped shingle-style and sealed at every penetration. The cavity behind the panel drains and dries, which matters in a region that averages about 62% relative humidity and parks spring storms overhead for hours at a time.
Flashings and Trim From Our Own Sheet Metal Shop
Base flashing, head and sill flashings at openings, inside and outside corners, J-trim and parapet coping all come out of our custom sheet metal shop in matching color. Because we bend the trim ourselves, the profiles match the panel exactly and nobody waits on a third-party fabricator. Our metal flashing page shows the details we use at windows, doors and roof-to-wall transitions.
Which Finishes and Gauges Hold Up to Texas Sun and Hail?
Kynar 500 PVDF paint on 24-gauge steel is our standard spec for exterior walls in Dallas-Fort Worth. It is the pairing that keeps its color under a summer UV index that routinely reaches 9 to 10 and shrugs off most of the hail that reaches a vertical surface.
Finish Options
- Kynar 500 / PVDF: the architectural standard, typically backed by 30- to 35-year chalk and fade warranties from the coil coater. Our default for dark and bright colors.
- SMP (silicone-modified polyester): the value finish. Fine for light colors on shops and barns; in side-by-side exposures SMP has shown visible fade at about eight years while PVDF still looked new.
- Mill finish: bare Galvalume or aluminum for an industrial look. No paint to fade, but expect the surface to dull to a soft gray over time.
- Anodized-look and metallic ACM: brushed, mirror and anodized-style finishes on composite panels for entries and signage bands.
Gauge Options
We roll wall panels in 22, 24 and 26 gauge. 24 gauge is roughly 28% thicker than 26 and is the normal choice for anything facing the street. 22 gauge goes on industrial walls, long girt spans and the 2.67 x .875 profile; 26 gauge is the budget option on shops and secondary elevations. Texas has led the nation in major hail events for 11 straight years, but a wall takes hail at a glancing angle, so dents are far less common than on a roof. Thicker steel and the texture of a corrugated or wave profile hide most of what does land.
How Does a Wall Panel Project Run?
From the first site visit to the last piece of trim, a commercial wall panel job typically takes four to ten weeks, depending on the panel type and the finish. The sequence is the same on a storefront in Dallas or a barndominium outside Terrell.
- Site measure and scope. We measure every elevation, note openings, substrate condition and access, and confirm who supplies the weather barrier and furring.
- Shop drawings and submittals. You receive panel layouts, trim profiles, physical color chips and manufacturer data for architect or owner approval. Nothing is ordered until the submittal is signed off.
- Lead times. As of 2026, stock-color steel panels typically run two to four weeks from approval; ACM and custom-matched colors typically run four to eight. The quote states the date.
- Fabrication in Forney. Steel panels are roll-formed and cut to length, ACM is routed and folded, and every piece of trim is bent in our own shop on the east side of Dallas County.
- Installation. Our own crews set furring, barrier, flashings and panels in that order, then walk the job with you before the final invoice.
Every installation carries our transferable lifetime workmanship warranty alongside the coil coater’s finish warranty. Fully Insured.
Who Uses Our Wall Panels in Dallas-Fort Worth?
General Contractors, Architects and Property Owners
Storefronts, office buildings, schools, churches, warehouses and multifamily projects make up most of our commercial wall panel work. We bid from plans, supply submittals and coordinate with the roofer, the glazier and the sign contractor. If we are also roofing the building, start with our commercial metal roofing page. Matching standing seam metal roofing and wall panels in one Kynar color is a common pairing on churches and offices.
Homeowners Building Modern Homes and Barndominiums
A Wave 12-3 accent wall, a corrugated gable or a full ACM entry gives a new build in Rockwall, Heath or Celina the look the rendering promised. Want the metal look across a whole house with no ribs and no visible seams? Our seamless steel siding is the residential alternative, formed on site to the length of each wall.
We fabricate at our shop in Forney and install across all of Dallas-Fort Worth; see our service areas for the full list of cities and counties.

Metal Wall Panel Questions From DFW Builders and Owners
Can you provide a submittal package or spec sheets for a wall panel project?
Yes. Send plans or elevations through our quote page and we return panel layouts, trim profiles, color chips and manufacturer data sheets for the architect or owner to approve before anything is ordered.
Which metal wall panel costs the least?
Exposed-fastener corrugated and PBR panels typically cost the least installed, followed by the 7.2 Rib and the 2.67 profiles. Concealed-fastener Wave panels cost more, and ACM is typically the highest per square foot because of the shop fabrication involved.
Do metal wall panels dent in Texas hail?
Rarely, compared with roofs. Hail hits a vertical wall at a glancing angle, and 22- or 24-gauge steel with a ribbed or wave profile hides most marks. Flat ACM on a canopy or parapet takes more direct hits, so we talk through the exposure before choosing a flat panel there.
Can metal wall panels go over an existing brick, block or stucco wall?
Usually. We furr the wall with hat-channel or Z-girts, add a weather barrier and attach the panels to the furring, which also lets us flatten an uneven wall. Some older buildings need a structural check first.
Does panel orientation matter?
Yes. Horizontal runs stretch a low building and suit Wave and corrugated panels; vertical runs drain fastest and are standard for PBR, 7.2 Rib and most exposed-fastener panels. Horizontal exposed-fastener panels need their laps sealed and fastened to the manufacturer’s pattern.
What lead time should I plan for?
As of 2026, stock-color steel panels typically run two to four weeks from submittal approval, and ACM or custom-matched colors typically run four to eight. We confirm the date in writing on your quote.
Do you install panels someone else supplied?
Yes, on commercial projects where the panel and trim package is already specified. Send the material list and shop drawings; our estimate states which warranties apply to install-only work.
